Before you decide whether you should read "Miracle on the Appalachian Trail" let me tell you about the author. I have known Brad Henry for more than twenty years, and I can't believe he is still alive. I call him "Bad Luck Brad," but mostly behind his back because he is an eternal optimist and doesn't realize all the stuff happening to him is not normal. What we're talking about here is way, way beyond Murphy's Law. After a few years with Brad, Murphy resigned from the assignment, citing an excessive workload. The difficult part about all this is that many of the cruel and "random" hardships visited upon Brad are, well, very funny. You genuinely want to express sympathy as he shares the latest incident involving being shot, bitten, run down, nearly drowned, defrauded, having his teeth knocked out, and so on, but the way he tells it, you just can't help but laugh.
So, when Brad took off on the Appalachian Trail, after telling him he was crazy, I did two things. I began scouring the papers daily for reports of his demise. I knew that if he didn't make it out, he would not succumb in some ordinary way, like falling off a cliff. It would be something infinitely more entertaining and newsworthy, possibly involving a bobcat, a bear, fire ants or a serial killer. But also, I prayed. In truth, I wanted him to survive, so we could all benefit from the stories of his adventures. This unforgettable book is the answer to my prayers. Prepare to be entertained. And, prepare to be changed, because ironic though it may be, "Bad Luck Brad," has the unique gift of imparting hope, joy, perspective and inspiration. Read "Miracle on the Appalachian Trail," and you might just discover the way to your own miracle, too.

I've read other things by Brad Henry, received his daily emails, and I like him. I didn't, however, like this book. His own story is amazing, I have a learning disability daughter and she's fought her way to jobs and through trade school. She's dyslexic and doesn't write or spell very good, but she's been a Christian since a little child. So I can relate to Mr. Henry's life. As for this book, I think a man might enjoy it better. I, like Mr. Henry, hate camping, bugs, and sleeping outside, the cold and everything that goes with hiking as I have a total hip replacement, and bad knee. The book had too many details and figures and became really boring really quick. My husband is dyslexic also so I doubt he'll read it. I wanted to like it because I appreciate Mr. Henry's struggles and his commitment to God. It just wasn't my cup of tea so to speak.Product details

Miracle On The Appalachian Trail The Test Of A Lifetime eBook B Henry Reviews
This is an egomaniac's self-justification for trail failure veiled behind "divine enlightenment". Seriously?! Don't waste your money. The worst AT trail book ever written. See a tree - don't buy it.
Not as interesting as I was hoping for...but Mr. Henry keeps it real and I appreciated that!
Miracle on the Appalachian Trail was an absolute delight to read. It captured me from beginning to end. Truly making me feel like I too was on
the Trail. Brad brought God, love, laughter, and intrigue all together on the pages of this book. Awesome reading. This book gives such inspiration
and courage to anyone wishing to obtain it. Thanks Brad for another great insight into what can be if we are just "still".
Brad Henry’s account of his facing the challenges of the Appalachian Trail will inspire, humor and delight you. It may change your life. He has a gift for writing that makes you feel like you are with him across a campfire, sharing the stories of his travels in an entertaining way that touches your heart and also your mind. He makes you think. This is a great book to enjoy and to learn from on many levels.
Caution this book is short and not worth the price. As a person who hikes I've read many books by people who hiked the at. This is by far the worse. The author only hikes a small portion and stops because of an epiphany. This may be true but doesn't make for a good book. The reviews are likely from his friends. Tried to get my 8 bucks back but unable to. As a person on faith I feel ripped off by the price and homer reviews not by the authors beliefs.
For the past several years, Brad Henry has shown up in my inbox almost every morning and made me laugh, cry, shake my head in shame, or raise my face in awe through the messages that God has placed on his heart in "The Ultimate Decision" devotionals. He shared his humanity and God's awesomeness in "Failing Doen's Mean You're a Failure". God has blessed me as I've gotten to know Brad personally. No matter what the medium - face-to-face, text, phone, email - Brad is genuine and authentic in his faith, his victories, and most importantly his struggles. Why would a call to hike the Appalachian Trail bring anything else but more entertaining circumstances for us to enjoy and learn from with Brad? Through it all, Brad speaks plainly and honestly about his journey and the valuable lessons that God arranged for him. "Miracle on the Appalachian Trail" is a straight-from-the-heart account of taking on a God-sized challenge and finding God's truth and purpose. Thank you, Brad for sharing this story with us. I look forward to the next adventure!
This book was a true joy to read. It was inspiring, it was entertaining and funny, and it was instructional. The amount of faith shown by Brad was amazing to me. I hope if God ever calls me to do something outrageous, I will be courageous and obedient enough to do it! This book was so great in showing the importance of being still and listening to God's voice in your life. However, as much as this book was about being still and following God, it was not preachy; it was inspiring.
The stories he told and the descriptions he gave about the different gaps, the peaks, the rainy days, the people, the mouse infested shelters, the snake, the backpack, and the miracles all made me feel like Brad was sitting across the room from me telling me all about his experience hiking the AT. It didn't even seem like I was reading a book! The only bad thing about Miracle on the Appalachian trail was that I finished it when I wanted to keep reading more.
